On behalf of The Institute of Electrical Engineers of Japan (IEEJ) and as the conference chair, it is a great honor for me to welcome you to The International Conference on Electrical Engineering 2008 (ICEE 2008) which will be held in Okinawa, Japan, on July 6 through 10, this year.

As all of you know, global environment issues have become major concerns worldwide. Especially, climate change is one of the most serious threats today. Here, electrical engineering that covers a wide area of society could play a much greater role. Contributions to sustainable development of the Earth by innovative technology advancement in the field of electrical engineering are expected just now.
In response to such situations, ICEE 2008 will offer a very good and precious opportunity, where electrical engineers from all over the world with various specialties will meet together, inspire each other, and share vision toward our sustainable future.
I believe that ICEE 2008 will yield fruitful results for global society through presentations and discussions by the distinguished participants.

In addition to the technological significance of the conference, the location is another attractive feature of ICEE 2008. Okinawa, the southernmost prefecture in Japan, is very famous for its beautiful ocean and unique cultural heritage. During the conference, I am sure all the participants will spend memorable and exciting time in Okinawa.

Finally, I wish many of you will participate in ICEE 2008, and hope to meet you in the beautiful island of Okinawa!

Ichiro Tai, Ph. D.
The Conference Chair, ICEE 2008

Dear all,

On behalf of the Institute of the Electrical Engineers of Japan (IEEJ) and the Local Organizing Committee of the International Conference on Electrical Engineering (ICEE), it is my pleasant duty to inform you that ICEE 2008 will be held at Okinawa Convention Center, Okinawa Japan, coming July.

As you know, ICEE aims to provide a forum for sharing knowledge, experience and creative ideas among world of electrical engineers and it has been successfully held once a year since 1995. It is a great pleasure for the IEEJ and co-organizers KIEE, CSEE, and HKIE to invite potential authors who have significant contributions in electrical engineering fields to submit papers to the related areas or challenging topics in their fields.

Besides, it will be interesting to have a trip to Okinawa, namely Ryukyu Islands. Okinawa is semitropical and resort islands which are located in southwest part of Japan. Every year, a lot of tourists, about 6 million, come to Okinawa and enjoy their nice vacations. Okinawa has blue sea and blue sky. It is very close to Korea, China and Hong Kong. Moreover, many direct flights are available from Asian countries such as China, Korea, Taiwan and Philippine to Okinawa.

We look forward to the pleasure of seeing you all in Okinawa soon.

Prof. T. Yamakawa
Dean of the Department of Engineering, University of the Ryukyus
Chairman of LOC, ICEE 2008
